Advent and Nativity Peg Dolls

A fun thing to do while preparing for Advent and Christmas with your children or friends is to make Advent and Nativity Peg Dolls as fun gifts!  With a smaller peg doll set like this one you could easily do the entire set by yourself, or you could also set up a Peg Doll Exchange where each person paints one Peg Doll (x # people in your group) and then you exchange them to create full sets at the end!

You simply need to buy the wooden peg dolls like these: Girls and Boys, paints and then decide on your Saints and designs and GO!  I am definitely not much of an artist but I have done 3 Peg Doll Swaps now and have truly enjoyed each of them!

Here are a few ideas for an Advent and Nativity Peg Doll Set!  First pick some Advent Saints!  We chose St. Nicholas (December 6th), Our Lady of Guadalupe (December 12th), and St Lucy (December 13th).  Someone also wanted to also do St. Cecelia whose feast day isn't during Advent but a fun saint near Advent and near when we did our exchange! (November 22nd)

We then painted the main characters in the Nativity Story including Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, the Angel, Shepherds and the 3 Wisemen!

And there you have it, a fun and easy way to celebrate Advent and Christmas in your home!

  1. Nicole, your Saint dolls are beautiful! After painting my 2 Saint dolls (St. Kateri and St. Luke) 13 times each, I'm not sure how you had time to be in 3 exchanges. Mine took forever and many long late hours! I'm looking forward to getting all my Saints in the exchange so the work will pay off :) I love the glittery church you have too!
