Passion Week Peg Dolls

I love integrating the lives of the Saints and Biblical Characters into our living of the liturgical year in our home and learning within our homeschooling.  The Saints are such fantastic role models of wonderful men and women of faith who had real life hardships and struggles but who also did many amazing things.  One great way that we have loved adding Saints into our home are through Saint Peg Dolls.  I have found that by leaving these little peg dolls around our home our children have been playing with them, asking about who each of them are, and learning the stories of the saints!  We did a swap of many different Saints this fall around All Saints Day and then another Swap of Nativity Peg Dolls.  Now I am so excited to share with you the Passion Week Peg Doll set that we completed with a swap within our homeschool co-op.  Thank you to all of the ladies who participated to make these beautiful dolls for our children.  I know that they will truly help the story of the Passion of Christ come alive in our home.

To do the swap we first chose who we wanted to paint and exchange, or in this case we chose that we wanted to do a theme of the Passion Week.  We then assigned each person a character and each painted 35 of our individual character for the swap.  To paint the peg dolls we followed these instructions from Equipping Catholic Families!  We then got together for a fun evening, had a priest bless the dolls, and exchanged them.  We also got copies of the Passion Week Script to help us act out the story using the dolls with our families!

  1. These are all so beautiful and creative and maybe one day I will be organized enough to make these with a group of moms. Until then, I'll admire them from afar :) Have a blessed Holy Week!

  2. Oh too funny!! Guess what?! My group is doing another swap, and we want to, among a few goals, add to our saints from the first exchange to complete the Last Supper scene. In my heart I was set on painting St. Jude since I did St. Lucy last time (and I have both a Lucy and a Jude), but I didn't jump on it early enough. So I've been pouting a bit, and then it hit me that maybe I should paint Judas as a penance for my bad attitude. :) So I googled it, and here I land! Good job with them.
