Thanksgiving Learning

We are excited to learn about Thanksgiving this week and as usual we are doing a lot of our learning through reading books!  Our books we choose this year to help us learn about Thanksgiving are the following:

Thanks for Thanksgiving by Julie Markes
Cranberry Thanksgiving by Wende Delvin
The Story of the Pilgrims by Katharine Ross
My First Thanksgiving by Tomie dePaola
...If You Sailed on the Mayflower in 1620 by Ann McGovern

We have been using CHC's Religion Series Who Am I with both their preschool and kindergarten books and I love that they have regular weekly lessons and then special lessons for things like All Saints Day, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas and Lent!  For this lesson we learn about giving thanks to God for all things through our prayers and taking care of what God has given us (Luke 17:11-19).

We are also starting the tradition this year of Turkey on the Table which is an adorable book all about being thankful and learning gratitude.  Along with the story comes a stuffed turkey which you add feathers to at Thanksgiving, writing on the feathers what you are grateful for!  I really look forward to carrying out this tradition throughout the years!

We will also pull out some of our fun Thanksgiving theme learning that I posted about last year for our preschooler and little ones!  It's so easy when I have it all organized, labeled and stored to use again and again!

Check out what we did LAST YEAR for Thanksgiving with the following posts:

I hope that you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
