Happy 4th Birthday Connor

My dearest Connor,

I cannot believe that you are turning 4 years old!  4 seems like such a big number, and although you are filled with a BIG personality, you are still just my little Connor!  I tell you most every single day that my life was pretty boring until God decided to bring a Connor into my life.  We should have known when naming you Connor, meaning "strong willed" what we would be in for!  You challenge me to be the best version of my self every day by needing to be more patient, more understanding, more creative and to communicate more effectively.  You have strong emotions and can get pretty upset and frustrated easily, but turn that around and you are the sweetest, most cuddly, most complimentary little guy in our bunch.  You are hilarious and you make each and every member of our family laugh daily.

You loved Advent and Christmas this year and are just fascinated by everything that you learn.  You love Jesus so much and loved hearing the nativity story again and again and again.  It was such a blessing to watch it all through your eyes.

Plus, you know how people talk about having "Faith like a Child"?  Oh my goodness little one, that quote could be talking about you!  You LOVE to play with our Peg Doll Saints all of the time and you are always chatting to yourself as you play.  Making up stories and talking about the lives of the saints that you have learned about.  If you do not know about one of them, you ask and we learn together!  You love saying your prayers and always have a entire list of intentions to pray at the end of our regular prayers each night.  You started off this year being a real struggle to bring to mass and after a lot of work with your dad you usually are pretty great now days at participating!

You LOVE, LOVE, LOVE school time!  I guess by "technical" standards you started Preschool this year, but you really have been one of those children truly learning since birth.  You soak up everything and have the most amazing memory.  You knew all of your colors, shapes and letters by the age of 3 and ever since we have started homeschooling you have wanted to "do school" right along side of your brother.  Even though you would not technically be of age to start kindergarten in our state for 2 more years we started Pre-school with you this fall with Seton.  Because you wanted to work on school 5 days a week (instead of the 2 days per week in the syllabus) you finished the entire curriculum in a mere few months.  You are now basically teaching yourself to read and the world is truly at your finger tips.  I feel blessed to be able to be homeschooling you and watching you learn. You have such a strong interest in learning and homeschooling has been such a good environment for you to do so at your own pace.

You are such a good brother and both of your brothers are truly your best friends.  You have shown signs of being the middle child, especially this past year, so we are really excited for your newest brother to come along soon to mix up the arrangement again.  You are so excited for your baby brother to be born and for you to REALLY be a big brother.

You are our creative and artistic child.  You love to paint, draw, sing, dance and you have the most amazing imagination!  We were laughing last month at watching the difference of you and your big brother playing with Legos.  Your big brother needs to follow the instructions and build only what the set that he has suggests.  You come up with these amazing contraptions all on your own that you quickly tells us what they are (a space ship, travel defender, etc) and it is simply amazing to watch you.

You are compassionate and have the biggest love for all things, especially animals.  You love to cuddle and love your puppies so much!  You also have your Lambie and Blanket that have been your "security" for years now.  We keep wondering if you will "give them up", but for now we love seeing them as a part of your daily routine and how much they comfort you.

My dear one, my heart aches with how much I love you!  Your spirit and personality add so much to our family and my life is forever changed because of you.  I wish for you the happiest of all happiness on your birthday and am so thankful to be your Mom!

Happy 4th Birthday Connor!

Love,
Mommy
