NYC - Visiting St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's Shrine

Ever since we started using Seton for homeschooling, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton has become one of my "go to saints" during time of praise and also during times of need!  St Elizabeth Ann Seton is the first American born Saint to be canonized and had an amazing heart for God, her family, her community and for teaching others.  She died when she was only 46 years old, but during that time she had a loving marriage, raised five children, started the Catholic School system in the United States and also a Catholic Charity!

She is also the inspiration for the name of my blog, so when my husband and I decided to take time away to go on a trip to New York City I knew that one of the places that I wanted to go was to her shrine

This was such a beautiful place to stop, rest, pray and reflect!  I know that I need God's daily guidance and wisdom in my life, especially on this journey of homeschooling, so I prayed that God continues to grant me patience and humility as a mother and teacher.  One of my favorite quotes of St Elizabeth Ann Seton is: "We must pray without ceasing, in every occurrence and employment of our lives - that prayer which is rather a habit of lifting up the heart to God as in a constant communication with Him"

I especially love that the shrine is in the middle of all of these huge buildings in this busy city.  I think it is a wonderful reminder that even in the hustle, bustle of busy life to slow down and to give God glory.  St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us!
