We have been having SO much fun this summer reading selections from
Give Your Child the World and learning more about our world and the people in it! We were so excited to hear that
Simple Homeschool was going to run a Blog Hop about where the different readers are from and what their lives look like in their homes. We are so glad that you stopped by. If you would like to follow our adventures in living and homeschooling please make sure to like our Facebook page below:
- Tell us about your family:

What do you think is unique and special about living where you do?
- Omaha, Nebraska was just ranked as the Number 1 City to Raise a family! It is a wonderful city with a great community. We have the Number 1 zoo in the world, we host the College World Series, love the Nebraska Cornhuskers and we also have many other wonderful events throughout the year.
- What languages are spoken there? If it’s different from English, can you help us learn a few common phrases?
- English is the main language but there are many other diverse ethnic groups within Omaha who speak many other languages!
-
What are some traditional foods there?
- We are known for our corn and also our beef!
- Tell us about the climate where you live.
- We have a pretty variable climate in the Midwest, United States. Our summers average 75-90 degrees and our winters can get to be below Zero degrees with lots of snow. We do enjoy all four season and love watching the seasons change!
- What does school look like for the majority of kids where you live?
- We are blessed with a great education system in our city that includes traditional public school, private school and homeschooling. Families have the ability to choose what educational path works best for their own family!
- What does school look like for your family?
- Are there any special places around where you live?
- One of our favorite places to go in Omaha is the Holy Family Shrine. It is a beautiful Catholic chapel on the side of the interstate where anyone can go to worship!
- If you ever had to move away from where you live, what do you think you’d miss most?
- If we ever moved away what we would miss most is our community of family and friends! We are blessed to have a lot of our family in our city and most everyone else within a days drive from our home town. We love to be able to spend time with our family and friends and we would miss them so much if we moved away.
- Do you have a favorite book that takes place in your region/country?
Thanks so much for stopping by to learn about our family!

We love the states alphabet set and have slowly been working our way through them. Sounds like a lovely community and area to raise your family.
ReplyDeleteThis was fun to see at Simple Homeschool-I'm from Lincoln. :) (We're #12--Beautiful British Columbia)
ReplyDeleteHave a great homeschool year!

When I was a kid, my family and I would drive from California to Michigan to visit family - going through Nebraska on the way. And my favorite part was the Fireflies! There are no fireflies in California (or west of the Rockies, I think), so that was one of the things I looked forward to on our trip. Then later on, I learned about runzas and now I have something else to look forward to when driving through Nebraska ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing! I loved reading and also learning about the Holy Family Shrine! :)
Number 1 city to live is rather impressive. Fascinated with your shrine all made of glass, how beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLots of books for your state, would so love to read some the alphabet State books.
We just moved to the Omaha area this year (we are in Papillion) ... we are loving the area for the time we will be here. We know it is only temporary (we are a military family) but are enjoying the variety of things to do while we are here.
