Advent week 2 -2018

Celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Juan Diego

We enjoyed celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Juan Diego this week by reading one of our favorite Tomie dePaola stories The Lady of Guadalupe and also making some yummy Mexican food!

Visiting George W. Bush Train

We were lucky that the train in memory of President George W. Bush stopped in our city this week.  It was nice to be able to take a little field trip to be a part of this special history!

Celebrating Connor's Baptism Anniversary

We love celebrating the baptism anniversaries of all of our children.  We bring out their baptism candles to light and say a special prayer and blessing.  They get to choose the dinner for the day and receive a small treat/present.

Advent week #2 was another great week!

Piano recital -2018

Music is a big part of our family culture and we are so blessed to have a wonderful Catholic piano and guitar teacher who comes to our home each week to teach our children.  This year was Luke's (5 years) first recital.  He was so nervous and so excited and did a simply fantastic job.  Ryan (8 years) and Connor (7 years) both played the guitar for the first time at this recital.  All three boys also played two songs individually and a trio on the piano.

First Week of Advent 2018

Advent is among us and we love continuing our family traditions . We have started our Jesse Tree and brought out our favorite Advent story books to read together.  Our boys all love to play songs on the piano and one of my favorite things to do is sit by the tree and listen to them play.

We've been trying to decorate our home more for Advent using the colors of Purple and Pink and also our Advent tree with Purple and Pink ornaments as well as ornaments of the Saints that we celebrate during Advent.  We also use a pregnant Mary figurine in our Nativity set that we have traveling with Joseph during Advent.

I love to try to slow down during this time of the year and enjoy the little things and each person!
