Celebrating the Epiphany

We celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany this Sunday at Mass, and celebrate the traditional feast day on January 6th!  To learn more about this special day and about the wisemen we read some of our favorite books including The Last Straw, The Little Boys Christmas Gift and Visiting the Visitors!  We also just took the time to play with all of the wisemen from our different nativity sets and our Nativity Peg Dolls.

Today we will continue our tradition of doing the Epiphany House Blessing.  This is such a special prayer for our family to have Christ bless our home and our family throughout the year.

Our Little Priests

After doing laundry I found the boys all set up in the living room playing Mass.  They do this on their own and warm my heart and make me laugh all at the same time.  Ryan reading from the Bible, Connor singing "Gloria" and Luke just following along with his big brothers, instructed to be the altar server.  When we went to a Catholic Bookstore a few months ago they were SO excited to find a red candle because it is a "Tabernacle Candle".  They love to light their red candle now and pray to Jesus!

At mass this weekend Ryan asked us which Priest was going to be presiding at mass.  I told him I did not know and that we would have to wait and find out.  He said, "Yeah, just like with presents, you have to wait to find out what it is, but it is usually a great surprise no matter what!"

I pray for our children's vocations daily and that they can follow God's calling and will for their lives.   For now, I am going to enjoy our little priests!

Peter's Baptism

This weekend we celebrated the baptism of Peter Michael.  It is such a beautiful sacrament filled with so many graces.  Here is a re-cap of the wonderful day for our family!

Luke 3:16 "John answered them all, "I baptize you with water.
But one more powerful that I will come,
and thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."

We were so blessed to have all of our family in town to celebrate with us!

We then went back to our house for a reception to celebrate Peter and this beautiful sacrament!

Ringing in the New Year

What a year 2015 was!  The year definitely had its ups and downs, but overall it taught us to trust in God and to live life in each moment.  We drew close together as a family this year and ended the year with the biggest blessing of Peter!  Eric had to work New Years Eve so my parents came over to celebrate with the kids and I!

The boys were so excited to have Sparkling Cider and toast to the New Year!

Next we watched the 2016 Countdown on Netflix with King Julian from Madagascar.  It was great to have something fun and silly that we could do at any time before bedtime!  We then got out the streamers and silly string to have some extra fun!

I look forward to see what 2016 has in store for our family!
