My dearest Luke,
Three years old! How did we get here so fast! This year your little personality grew and grew into a spunky little boy! You are filled with energy and you LOVE to laugh. You are very thoughtful, caring and always want to cuddle. You bring so much joy to our entire family and we are so blessed to have you in our lives.
You adore summer time! You would live in the water if you could and when you are not swimming, or boating you want to be at the park! This year you have started finding your own interests instead of just following your brothers around all of the time.
You jumped right in with our homeschooling as you do not want to be left behind in anything. You are such a good little boy and love to participate with crafts, songs, story time and when your big brothers are doing more formalized work you will play with blocks, puzzles or trains. You already know all of your letters, letter sounds, colors, shapes, and you are learning all of the days of the week/months of the year and weather always helping us out with our morning board. You repeat everything and gain information so quickly. While coloring the other week you wrote an "L" all by yourself with no prompting and no help and said "L is for LUKE!" Your other favorite thing to do would be to cuddle up and read books. Your favorite books are "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie", "We're Going on A Bear Hunt" and Pete the Cat.
Winter time came and we still could not reel in your energy. You would play outside for hours and when it was too cold to play outside we would bring the fun inside! We went skiing this year and you tried to ski for the first time. What you really loved was the chair lift, and you would have much preferred if you just could have rode the chair lift around and around again without the actual skiing down the mountain!
You love Jesus. You are truly our little priest. It is common that the first thing that you put on in the morning is one of your little priest vestments and you usually take one to bed with you as well. You also already know what liturgical color you should be wearing based on what liturgical season we are celebrating! You play Mass all of the time and are always so particular about how you set everything up on your altar. You know all of the words and will stand there saying "My ciborium goes here, the chalice goes here, my cruets go here, etc." You walk around our house singing "Jesus Christ is Risen Today", "Alleluia" or songs that your brothers teach you from Catechesis of the Good Shepard. You love learning about all of the stories about Jesus and all of the Saints. Your favorite saint is St. Luke and whenever there is a reading from the Gospel of St Luke you exclaim "St Luke was a doctor!"
You LOVE your Bobie, which is what you named your little bike/scooter. Some days it seems like it might simply be attached at your hip! You can ride it all around the bike trail near our house and play races with it all of the time. You have started to learn how to ride a real bike, but you still much prefer Bobie!
Your brothers are your very best friends. You have such special relationships with all of them and play a very important role in each of their lives. Ryan is your role model, you look up to him and everything that he does. You love when Ryan reads you stories and plays army with you. This year you and Connor have truly started to play together cooperatively. Your imaginative play is adorable and we will commonly find the two of you on your own adventures. You are incredibly protective of Peter. You love him SO much that often we find you just SQUEEZING him! You make Peter laugh so much and have been such a big helper learning how to feed Peter, sing him songs and read him stories. You told us this year that you want us to have 100 boys in our family!
Love,
Mommy
